Newport National Golf Club Certified as Green Golf Course by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM)

Newport National Golf Club is honored to be a part of the Green Certification Program, practicing sustainable and pollution-reducing systems to benefit the wildlife and habitat of Newport National Golf Course. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) Green Golf Course Certification Program is built on the foundations of pollution prevention as it relates to land use with a specific emphasis on the reduction of non-point source pollution. Golf courses have the ability to implement best management practices that benefit wildlife by providing food sources and habitat. Newport National Golf Club is proud to be a steward of the environment. The goal of this program is to allow golf courses to practice sustainable best management practices to benefit the environment. The focus areas of the program are reducing water use for irrigation, reducing fertilizer use and reducing pesticide use. Beginning in 2011, golf courses, landscapers, turf farmers and colleges and universities have reduced over 242,000 pounds of fertilizer, reduced 373,000,000 gallons of water, reduced over 540 pounds of pesticide and reduced nearly 1,430 metric tons of CO2 equivalent. By becoming part of the RIDEM program, golf courses can measure their environmental performance over time and use it to educate members and make sustainable efforts for the environment.

Newport National Golf Club is one of New England’s finest golf courses. Located in Middletown RI, this award winning 200-acre golf course is your number one choice for a round of golf in Rhode Island.
