Newport National Golf Club is pleased to announce the submission of plans for construction of a new clubhouse and additional nine holes of golf. The clubhouse was designed by Cordtsen Design Architecture and will pay homage to the historic style of New England. Golf course architect firm, Hills Forrest Smith, designed the golf course to pay tribute to the natural landscape of the island.

The Clubhouse

Set at the end of a tree lined drive, the Newport National Golf Clubhouse welcomes guests with a classical colonnade entry way. Nestled into the lush landscape of the award winning 27 hole golf complex, the two-story shingle style building is the crown jewel of this world class facility. The architectural design takes cues from Aquidneck island’s rich cultural vernacular, blended with elegant clubhouses from around the world. The entry level welcomes you into a comfortable lounge connecting exquisitely appointed locker rooms. The nearby pro shop, is located in the center of the action with commanding views of the new Vineyard Course and practice facility. The two grand stairways bring you to a generous grill room and impressive function hall both set with wood trusses topped with soaring wood ceilings. These areas open south to the sunny outdoor dining overlooking the tees and greens of the Vineyard Course. From the clock tower to the endless veranda spaces, this clubhouse was designed to celebrate this special place. Every aspect of this clubhouse is intended to accentuate the golfers’ experience and create a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the comaraderie of friends and family.

Vineyard Course

The Vineyard Course at Newport National will be a wonderful complement to the existing Orchard Course. Set on a gently rolling terrain, the new holes will be carefully crafted so they blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings and preserve the historic stone walls and specimen oak trees. Much like the Orchard Course, the new nine will have a charming New England feel that is reminiscent of many classic old golf courses found in the Northeast. Along with a beautiful new clubhouse, the Vineyard Course will also provide a new state-of-the-art practice facility, which includes a double-ended driving range with over 70,000 square feet of practice tee and multiple target greens. It also includes a one acre short game area with multiple bunkers and ample fairway surrounds so players can practice virtually any short shot they can imagine.
